Cause for Celebration!
Celebrate! We each have a new year of reasons to celebrate God’s grace and unconditional love at work in our lives. Reasons to walk in the Spirit and allow Him to use us in the proclamation of the reconciliation provided by Him… to everyone, everywhere!
Celebrate!
Together, we can celebrate the most recent couple to be sent out by the NCD fellowship as Alliance IWs — Andre and Kate, along with their toddler Penelope. They have fulfilled the C&MA requirements and were officially approved by the Alliance leadership. After some training and orientation for long-term cross-cultural messengers of the Gospel, they’ll be going to a country in SE Asia. In this Creative-Access-Country (CAC) less than 1% of the population are adherents of Christianity.
Who?
CAMA President, Mike Sohm, describes our newest IWs this way:
Andre and Kate are TCKs who have grown up on the mission field. They have individually served as IWs in two different countries in SE Asia: Kate in Cambodia with CAMA, and Andre in [a SE Asian country]. Their backgrounds and cross-cultural experiences have clearly shown a capacity to learn, adapt, and work effectively in a multi-cultural situation. They have demonstrated a commitment to CAMA values and approach to ministry and now are pursuing service with CAMA. They are qualified to serve in many locations, but [this country] has been at the top of the list. They bring both professional expertise (IT/graphic design for Andre and nursing for Kate) and a relational approach to ministry that will fit well in [this country].
Where?
This SE Asian country has a population of over 50 million people. Since 2008, CAMA’s focus, along with the national church, has been on a people group who are Buddhist. CAMA began its work in response to the needs created by the worst cyclone in this country’s history. Over time, CAMA continued to visit to provide training and capacity-building where several Alliance churches were located. In 2012, CAMA sent the first IWs to live in a key city and work with Alliance churches there. Together we began a HIV/AIDS outreach and a church-based slum ministry that continues to this day. In 2014, CAMA Zending (Dutch) added a couple to the team who work with church based and non-church-based initiatives. There are many needs and opportunities as this country opens to more economic freedoms. Now is the time to come alongside the local church with capacity building and wholistic outreach while intentionally targeting this population. The Alliance national church is an Alliance World Fellowship (AWF)* member. An additional AWF national church is considering sending an IW there in 2020.
Celebrate in partnership!
Will you partner with Andre and Kate as they serve with CAMA Services as an extension of our local engagement with the Great Commission?
prayer supporters… sign-up* for their newsletter & regularly utilizing their updates; committed intercession for them during the next 4 years.
support them financially… consistent and thoughtfully giving to their support with CAMA* as Alliance IWs… as an individual?… as a church fellowship.
establish a meaningful relationship… introducing them to your congregation?… upholding them with “member care” and true ministry partnership?
There’s more celebration to come!
God is moving in the NCD and people are responding. Watch for the celebratory send-off for our next IWs! Will it be you?
