Reset Together
On May 19th, I gathered a group of multiplication-minded pastors and leaders from the greater Twin Cities metro at Zion Minneapolis to stream the virtual RESET conference put on by Exponential. We had a great time learning, sharing, and growing together. The theme of the conference was how do we as the church reset after all the difficulties of the last year. We all have experienced much conflict that must be worked through, from COVID arguments to political disagreements and entanglements to conflicts around how to best deal with racial injustice. It has been a long and difficult season and we gathered to process where do we go next.
I found it very interesting and helpful that most of the keynote speakers focused not on changing church structures or figuring out how to get people back into their seats but rather on the soul of the pastors and leaders. There was a deep recognition that for our churches to really reset and become what we are called to be we as pastors and leaders need to take time to reset our life with God to bring health to the churches that we are part of.
Have you taken time lately to be refreshed and renewed in God’s presence? There is much you can be doing for your church, and that is always the case. But unless you are renewed, refreshed, and empowered by the Spirit of God your work will be in vain. Maybe this year has been difficult, and you have some deep issues that were exposed in your own soul. Might you find someone to walk with you back to spiritual vitality, whether a therapist, spiritual director, one of our office staff, or a trusted friend? If you find yourself in a difficult place know you are not alone in needing to reset, and that God wants to do something in you before God does something through you. If you are interested in learning and growing in multiplication and would like to be informed of future gatherings and trainings like this let me know!
