2 New Church Plants
As we enter 2021, I wanted to take a break from writing about the characteristics of a multiplying church to let you know about a few new environments that are getting started. One of our goals as a district is to have 30 New Kingdom Advancing Environments in 10 years. At our DEXCOM meeting in December we had 2 church plants come to share what God has been doing as they officially begin their ministries.
About a year and a half ago I started talking to Jesse and Angie Doughty. They have previously served in the Alliance and found themselves living in Mora, MN asking themselves what God would have for them and their family next. We began a process of discernment and development which led to Jesse and Angie putting forth a plan to begin “One Degree Ministries” in Mora, MN. They have a heart to see people continually transformed into Christlikeness one degree at a time. They are putting a team together which includes starting small groups that will grow to help form the core of this church plant.
Please pray for One Degree Ministries! If you are interested as a church in partnering with them as they begin this new effort you can contact me or contact Jesse directly at revjessed@gmail.com. The best way to stay in the loop with current prayer requests is to ask Jesse to be put on their prayer newsletter list. Contact him to get added. We would love to see our NCD churches come gather around in support of this new environment!
Another new environment that we have been working on for a few years is Ekklesia in Sioux Falls, SD. Jimmy and Ariana Sourile moved to Sioux Falls a year and a half ago and have been discerning the culture and working through some team dynamics. Jimmy was able to finalize their plan and bring that to DEXCOM in December. Ekklesia exists to see people and communities made alive by the presence of Christ. This month they will be hosting an interested persons meeting and then launching their first group.
Please pray for Ekklesia! A number of our churches have already provided great partnership opportunities by inviting Jimmy to come and speak. Shoutout to Hillside Community Church, Mercy Church, and Eagan Hills Church for the ways you have already supported this new work! If you are interested as a church in partnering with Ekklesia as they begin you can contact me or contact Jimmy directly at james.sourile@gmail.com. Also please contact Jimmy to be added to their newsletter list to hear updates and prayer requests.
God is up to something good! If you are keeping track this puts us at 8 New Kingdom Advancing Environments that we together have started since we put this goal before you. Praise be to God for the work He is doing! Please join me in praying for 2021 as we look to begin even more Kingdom Advancing Environments!
