Overview

Hope Community Church is seeking a Next Gen Pastor to disciple the next generation and their families, leading them to know and follow Christ. Under direction from the lead pastor, this pastor will provide oversight and vision for ministry from birth through 12th grade, ensuring a Christ-centered, biblically sound, and relationally engaging approach to children’s and student ministries. In addition to leading youth ministry (6th–12th grade), the Next Gen Pastor will support and equip volunteer leaders in children’s ministry, ensuring alignment with the overall vision of Hope Community Church.

When you join Hope Community’s staff, you’re not just filling a position—you’re stepping into a calling within our church family. We recognize that God has uniquely gifted and called you for this role, and we are eager to grow alongside you. This position isn’t just about leading programs; it’s about actively engaging in the life of our church, walking with families, and fostering meaningful relationships that deepen faith and community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shepherd and disciple students, children, and families toward a growing, lifelong faith in Christ.

  • Teach and apply biblical truth in a way that is engaging and transformative.

  • Encourage students to develop personal spiritual disciplines and live out their faith in their homes, schools, and communities.

  • Provide pastoral care to students and families, walking with them through life’s joys and challenges.

  • Be a visible and approachable presence during weekend services, midweek gatherings, and church-wide events, fostering relationships with families, young adults, and the broader church community.

Ministry Oversight & Leadership

  • Report to and support the lead pastor, ensuring Next Gen ministries align with the church’s mission.

  • Oversee and provide vision for children’s and student ministries, ensuring biblical depth and relational engagement.

  • Lead youth ministry (6th–12th grade) through weekly gatherings, small groups, discipleship, and outreach events.

  • Support and equip volunteers in children’s ministry (birth–5th grade) by providing leadership, encouragement, and resources.

  • Partner with parents, equipping them to be the primary disciple-makers in their children's lives.

  • Engage with young adults and families to ensure a seamless transition between life stages in discipleship.

  • Collaborate with other church ministries to connect Next Gen ministries to the larger church family.

Team Development & Administration

  • Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteers, empowering them to lead effectively.

  • Develop and implement sustainable, relational ministry strategies that foster growth and engagement.

  • Plan and oversee major events such as Big Sandy Camp, VBS, LIFE Conference, and other special gatherings.

  • Work alongside church leadership to align Next Gen ministry with the overall vision of the church.

  • Assist the lead pastor in additional ministry areas as needed (preaching, administration, outreach, etc.).

Who You Are

  • A deeply rooted and growing follower of Christ (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9).

  • Passionate about discipling the next generation and equipping families to live out their faith.

  • A strong communicator with a pastoral heart and the ability to engage students, parents, and volunteers.

  • A team builder who encourages and equips others for ministry.

  • Knowledgeable in children and student ministry with at least two years of experience preferred.

  • Teachable, with a Bachelor's degree in Christian Education, Theology, or a related field. (Licensed or willing to pursue licensure and ordination with The Alliance).

  • Technologically proficient, able to communicate effectively in person and through digital and social media platforms.

Bonus Points If You…
